FILM GRAPHICS

As a graphic designer for filmmaking, I have worked on Art Departments for several productions designing graphic props and set pieces for the likes of Sky and the BBC.

Here are some of the things I’ve made for the screen.

POLICE ADVISING

As an ex-detective, I‘m able to use my experience to create authentic graphic props for film & TV.

Everything from hero police badges and crime reports, to posters and signage for set dressing, you can offload all of your police scene requirements to me without having to worry about sourcing scarce reference material.

As well as prop-making, I also offer my consultancy and advice on police procedure, working practices and wardrobe. This can be both pre-production in the form of script assessment, costume department liaison and briefing cast members, as well as during production by way of set dressing assistance and on-set advising of actors.

Police stations, custody blocks, interview rooms, forensic labs, courtrooms; I can help you get the best result for your production.

I served in my local force, Sussex Police, for 13 years before I re-trained as a Graphic Designer. My career spanned many departments, including Response, Public Order, Investigations, CID and Public Protection. I underwent training as an emergency response driver, a method of entry officer, a public order Medic, and finally, a detective.

Beyond my daily duties, I also worked in London to assist the Metropolitan Police during the 2012 London Olympics, and was part of a joint security operation in Northern Ireland for the G8 Summit in 2013.

I most recently worked as a detective within the Public Protection department in Brighton; investigating complex cases relating to serious sexual offences and the abuse of vulnerable children, and managing these cases through to trial at Crown Court.

“I've had the pleasure of working with Stephen on two occasions so far, and each time he was able to bring a unique level of realism to the production, both in the graphics he produced and the expert advice he was able to provide on-set.
Stephen uses his police experience to not only create high-quality, accurate props and dressing for sets, but he is also available during filming to advise the director and instruct actors to make sure everything is as true to life as possible.
It's not everyday you find a graphic designer who is also a police advisor, so Stephen is always an invaluable member of my team.”
